Description

Discover the treasures of two of Kazakhstan's capitals on a 5-day tour from Almaty to Astana. Explore the oldest part of Almaty, visit the Charyn Canyon, and see the Kaindy Lake. Then, explore the new part of Astana, with its modern architecture and shopping centers. On day 1, arrive in Almaty and transfer to your hotel. Meet your guide and embark on a city tour of Almaty. Visit the Vosnesensky Orthodox Cathedral, the Museum of Kazakh Folk Instruments, and the Green Bazaar. See Independence Square and ride the Almaty metro. On day 2, explore the Charyn Canyon, often referred to as the 'little brother' of the American Grand Canyon. Walk through the Valley of Castles and enjoy the views of this natural wonder. Then, continue to the Charyn River and enjoy a refreshing breath of the river. Transfer to Lower Kolsay Lake and walk along the shore. On day 3, transfer to Kaindy Lake. In 1911, a strong earthquake occurred in the Kungei-Alatau mountains, as a result of which a huge landslide created a dam and blocked the mountain river. The gorge and the centuries-old Tien Shan firs that grew on its slopes were flooded with water. In any other place, they would have rotted long ago, but the water of Kaindy is so cold, that the trunks still retain their appearance. Drive to Almaty via Essyk town, where you visit the State Historical-Cultural Reserve Museum Essyk dedicated to the well-known Golden Man. On day 4, transfer to the airport for a flight to Astana. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure. On day 5, check out of your hotel and continue exploring the new part of Astana. See the main architectural masterpieces of the city, such as the Water-Green Boulevard with the Astana Baiterek monument, the Khan Shatyr shopping mall, the EXPO area with the Nur Alem museum, and the Astana Central Mosque. In the late afternoon, enjoy some free time for shopping before transferring to the airport on your own.
